Awards & Scholarships:

  • The Eric Hamber Award may be presented at MAINSTAGE annually to a nominated person, Member Club or institution having made an outstanding contribution to community theatre in B.C. over a long period of time;
  • Theatre BC Diamond of the Year Award Instituted in 2007 (Theatre BC's 75th -or Diamond- Anniversary) Awarded to a Theatre BC member who, in the past year, has worked toward furthering the Mission Statement of Theatre BC: To promote and encourage the development of community theatre in British Columbia by providing leadership and opportunities for participation, education and sharing the enjoyment of diverse theatre experiences.
  • Zone Recognition Awards may be given at the Zone Festival annually to a person or Member Club having made an outstanding contribution to his or her Zone;
  • The Jessie L. Richardson and Sid Williams Memorial Scholarships (in conjunction with Courtenay Little Theatre) $1000 scholarships may be awarded at MAINSTAGE to two student applicants accepted by a post-secondary theatre program at a recognized Canadian institution to further their training.
  • The Mien vanHeek Scholarship The recipient of this $1000 award will be a person pursuing further education in stage craft that is technical or design-related.  The person will be entering the senior years of their training to be eligible and must be a Theatre BC member. The first scholarship was awarded in Kamloops at MAINSTAGE 2010. 

Script Library

Theatre BC has a script lending library of well over 1000 titles available to members for reading purposes only. Copies of festival entry scripts, winning & finalist scripts from thel Canadian National Playwriting Competition and donations are included in the script library.

Talent Bank

Theatre BC’s Talent Bank listings help provide member clubs or Zones with workshop leaders in virtually any aspect of theatre arts. These artists also serve as adjudicators and instructors, Playwriting Competition jurors and touring instructors. Theatre BC completes all contractual arrangements on behalf of its member clubs.

Newsletters

THEATRE BC NEWS, a quarterly newsletter direct mailed to members and available online, provides updated information on happenings, personalities within the theatre community, as well as production listings for member clubs and theatre companies honoring the Club Card in the popular "Curtain Call".
